Preparation
Before you start
You only need to complete the full setup once. Have these four items ready before opening WordPress.
Administrator access to WordPress 6.0 or later, running PHP 7.4 or later.
Leave the downloaded file zipped. WordPress uploads the ZIP itself.
The API account needs active billing for content and image generation.
Create the private key shortly before entering it in WPBlogAI.
Take a current WordPress backup. If an older WPBlogAI or NSP Auto Blogger version is active, deactivate it before activating the new version.
You can sign into WordPress as an administrator and have the plugin ZIP ready.

Upload and install WPBlogAI
Sign in
Open your website’s WordPress administration area and sign in with an administrator account.
Open the uploader
Choose Plugins → Add Plugin from the left menu, then select Upload Plugin at the top.
Choose the ZIP
Select Choose File, find the WPBlogAI ZIP on your computer and leave it zipped.
Install
Select Install Now and wait for WordPress to confirm that installation is complete.
Activate
Select Activate Plugin. WPBlogAI will now appear in the WordPress administration menu.
Upload the new ZIP using the same route. When WordPress says the plugin already exists, review the comparison and choose Replace current with uploaded. Do not run the older and newer versions together.
WPBlogAI appears in the left-hand WordPress menu.

Create the account that powers the writing
WPBlogAI organises the work inside WordPress. OpenAI supplies the AI used to research, write and create images. A private API key connects the two.
Your WPBlogAI plugin
Runs the guided blogging workflow inside your own WordPress website.
Your OpenAI API account
Pays OpenAI directly for the AI work used to create content.
Your OpenAI API key
A private connection code that lets WPBlogAI request that work.
Think of the API key as a secure working pass.
Your own key connects your website to your OpenAI API account, keeps usage visible to you and means AI charges are paid directly without a WPBlogAI markup.
CREATE OR SIGN IN
Open the OpenAI Platform
- Use the official link below.
- Create an account or sign in with an existing OpenAI login.
- Complete the account checks until the Platform dashboard opens.
A paid ChatGPT subscription is not the same as API billing. ChatGPT Plus is not required for WPBlogAI.
ENABLE API BILLING
Add payment details or credits
- While signed in, open the official Billing page.
- Add a payment method or purchase API credits using the displayed options.
- Set a sensible budget or usage limit if shown.
OpenAI API usage is a separate cost from the WPBlogAI licence.
CREATE THE KEY
Make a private API key
- Open the official API Keys page.
- Select Create new secret key.
- Name it clearly, for example WPBlogAI – My Website.
- Create and copy it immediately. The complete key may not be shown again.
Never email it, put it in a screenshot or paste it into a support message. If it is exposed, delete it on the OpenAI API Keys page and create a replacement.
You are signed in to the OpenAI Platform, API billing is active and the new key is copied ready to paste.
Connect
Save the OpenAI API key in WPBlogAI
Return to WordPress and choose WPBlogAI from the left menu. The connection panel appears above the five-step workflow.
Open the connection panel
Choose WPBlogAI in WordPress and find the panel headed OpenAI API Key.
Paste the OpenAI API key
Paste the complete new key into Paste new API key and select Save / Replace Key.
Confirm the connection
WPBlogAI should report that the key was updated. The active key is then shown only in a safely masked form.
WPBlogAI support may ask whether a key is saved, but will never ask to see the complete private key.
WPBlogAI confirms that the OpenAI key is saved and the AI connection status reads Connected.
Learn brand
Teach WPBlogAI how your business should sound
Enter the correct website and select Deep learn brand (auto-apply). Keep the progress window open until the replacement Brand Profile is saved.
Basic company details
Check the company name, website, public contact details, social links and the WordPress author for generated posts.
Offer and locations
Review what you do, services, products, locations and areas served. Correct anything outdated or missing.
Market position
Review the research summary, positioning, advantages and evidence-based brand story.
Audience
Check the description of the people and organisations most likely to buy from the business.
Content guidance
Set optional preferences covering guidance, questions, comparisons, risks and expert insight.
Wording and safeguards
Review preferred language, wording to avoid, unconfirmed claims and rules every article must follow.

Unsaved edits are not used by keyword, campaign or article generation.

Give the campaign a useful starting point
The keyword assistant can work entirely from the Brand Profile or use seed phrases when you want more control.
Choose how to discover keywords
Use the Brand Profile for the easiest route, combine your phrases into one balanced list, or research each phrase separately.
Guide the research when needed
Enter one product, service, topic or customer problem per line—maximum 10. Use short subjects, not complete article titles.
Choose the required results
Set the result count, target area, locations and keyword type: mixed, short-tail or long-tail.
Advanced SEO and live volume
Optional controls cover minimum searches, competition and existing-content checks. DataForSEO can add live volume; otherwise WPBlogAI uses estimates.
Remove anything unsuitable and save manual edits. Campaign generation uses the approved keyword wording.

Troubleshooting common issues
“Key required” is showing+
Open the OpenAI API Key panel above the five-step workflow, paste a current private key and select Save / Replace Key. Confirm that API billing is active if generation still cannot begin.
AI generation will not start+
Confirm the API key is saved and the OpenAI API account has active billing. ChatGPT subscriptions and API billing are separate.
The API key is not working+
Create a replacement on the OpenAI API Keys page, copy it immediately and use Save / Replace Key. Never send it to support.
Keyword ideas are too broad+
Use more specific seed phrases and refine the keyword type, phrase length, service, customer problem or genuine location.
A scheduled item has failed+
Open Blog Queue and read the current stage and failure reason. Allow automatic retries to finish before contacting support.
A post has no outbound link+
This can be intentional. WPBlogAI omits outbound links when no suitable, working and non-competing source qualifies.
WordPress found an existing plugin+
Review the comparison and choose Replace current with uploaded after confirming that a current website backup exists.
